give me the birthright.  We also notice the children of the poor remain poor, and live off the hard earned wealth of others.  This parasitic attitude  is often handed down from parent to children.
· And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.  Gen 25:28

We find that Esau just as his father Isaac, was also concerned

and loved the natural things of life, especially eating.   But Jacob said I'll give you this carnal bit of mess that perishes, if you will give me the eternal things of God.  Esau said
I don't care about this birthright, I want to eat.  Yet later, we find it was not Esau's intention to keep his word.  Some always think to deceive and get away with deceitful goods today we call these people con-men.

Yet when Isaac was about to die he called Esau and sent him out for savory food and then to bestow the birthright on him who was unfaithful.  But God was faithful.  He provided that Rebekah heard it.  Though Esau was living as a sinner, he was  yet intending to "con" the wonderful blessings of God.  We note also that the Bible never speaks of Isaac as a man of God,  we find the same carnality instilled in his favorite son, Esau.  Esau was living for the things of the world.

Jacob's true desire was
;  I want the things of God, I want to be in touch with His  spirit, I want  to be the one that the Lord chooses.  To make a long story short, Jacob and his mother, Rebekah, decided to deceive Isaac, and cause Isaac to bestow the blessing on Jacob.  Jacob was the one who was living a more Godly life.

Jacob lied to his father who was blind about who he was when he brought the dinner for the birthright bestowal, now he was a thief and a liar. Yet, God honored Jacob's desire.  Because of the trick that Rebekah and Jacob played on Isaac, his father, he pronounced the birthright blessing on Jacob, which could never be changed. It was most important to Jacob to have Godly things, we find that after the covenant of desire for spiritual things was formed in Jacob, that God added also, worldly riches. It was for this reason that God loved Jacob.

Jacob I Loved. . .

In the book of Malachi we can find many of the expressions of the way that God felt about His people.  It has always been the desire of the Lord to give to his own people a great gift which was the bestowal of His love, affection and spirit.  Yet to Him it was a situation much like today where one must qualify, much as one would qualify for things and situations in this world.  Though we know that the Lord rains on the just and the unjust, Mat 5:45, for his own there are special gifts that He has because He can see something special in us. As we proceed, in the book of Malachi:

· I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,
· And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.
· Whereas Edom (descendents of Esau) saith, We are impoverished (made poor) , but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation forever. Mal 1:2-4

Though the descendents of Esau worked diligently, all they could build was desolate places because the Lord was angry with them. The infarction was committed by Esau, but as in most families, the ideals are passed on to the children.  The lack of submission to the actual will of God was not a part of Esau's race, not even today, because Esau is a biblical type of the flesh, or the workings of the flesh.  He had no real interest in the Lord, except as far as making himself naturally more affluent.  This lets you know how the Lord feels about things.  Why did he love Jacob who was a thief, and hate Esau?

Esau went hunting until he was so tired and had made no provision for his hunger.  His brother was making a stew, for the belly.  He said give me some of that food before I die.  Like we say, though it is not true this was an exaggeration.  Jacob said I'll give you food if you
