Text Box: Parting the Sea (What Did It Mean?)

When a person embarks upon living for God, there are no automatics. We do not automatically become born into the kingdom of God. It takes a sincere effort of repentance and seeking Him as well as the submission to baptism in the wonderful name of the Savior, Jesus Christ. These things cannot be taken for granted because Jesus said a man must be born of Water and Spirit. Water meaning baptism and Spirit meaning receiving the Spirit of God, just the way it was as a biblical example Acts 2:4. We can realize that the Old Testament shows and gives way to the New Testament plan of salvation. The plan hidden in the Old Testament lets us know when we are on the right track.
The Old Testament held types and shadows that pointed toward the way to come for the future people of God. When the Hebrews were delivered out of Egypt, (Egypt being a type of the World) they needed a savior to show the plan and lead them. This savior was instead of God to them. He was to be the example of Jesus Christ, whom men must follow to avoid destruction. Moses was that savior. First Moses commanded Pharaoh to let the people go. Pharaoh was likened to satan, the enemy of God and His people in the world. Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Moses the deliverer of Israel was on the back side of the desert of Median for forty years. Before Jesus ministry began, He was in the wilderness for 40 days, fasting.
Though this king of the world, depicted as Pharaoh of Egypt was reluctant to let the people go from his domain with just a request would later surrender to the strong arm of God to let Gods people go. His hold would be destroyed by the death of his own first born and that of all Egyptians, but only completely by fire, smoke and water. Once Moses great works of freedom from the worldly task master was achieved, the people would be required to follow his leadership, just as men follow Gods leadership through Jesus Christ today.
Prior the death of the first born of Egypt the Jewish people under Moses instruction prepared a Passover lamb. They were passed over or excluded from death of the first born by the blood of the Lamb. Jesus Christ is called the Lamb. The blood of the sacrifice was placed upon the door of their dwelling to protect the people from the angel of death just as the blood of Jesus protects the door to our hearts from spiritual death in washing our sins away.
He came to sacrifice His lifes blood In the first Passover, the untimely trial and death of Jesus Christ was also done quickly, and by it removed the sin for mankind. Leaven or yeast is symbolic of sin, and quickly was Gods remedy for sin established through the application of the blood of Jesus Christ in water baptism. This is why the Apostle Peter said: Act 2:38 Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
(Act 2:39) For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Moses led them by a pillar of smoke by day and fire by night. This was symbolic of the smoke that is the Shekinah glory of the LORD, the same as appeared in Solomons temple. The Fire was as the fire of the Holy Ghost which appeared on the day of Pentecost, as it fell upon the apostles and others who waited in an upper room. They were told to wait for power from on high. That power in the pillar of cloud protected the people from the Egyptian army as they approached and the fire illuminated their way.

The people of Israel marched to the Red or Reed sea that parted by a miracle from God the people went through the water accompanied by a strong wind, that caused the sea to part. It was as though they were baptize going down into the water of escape and blessed by the wind that brought the miracle of the parted waters. We are baptized through the water accompanied by the gift of the wind symbolic of the Holy Ghost. Jesus said: John 3:8 The wind blows* where it will*, and thou hear* the sound thereof, but can* not tell where* it come*s from*, and where* it goes*: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (*denotes updated words)
The miracle of the water also slew the enemies of the people, as the Archangel Michael and his angels defeated and vanquished satan and his demons from heaven.
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
The symbolic baptism, slays the works of the spiritual enemy, satan and his cohorts, and our own sinful works. By it we are set free from the wages of sin. After which the prophetess Miriam led the Praise and worship as the people gave thanks giving for the wonderful works of God. In Acts, we see that after the Holy Ghost was poured out with the evidence of speaking in tongues, the words that they spoke were understood as words that gave glory to the great works of the LORD.

Act 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Later the people will also be required to follow Gods given leader. Their lack of respect and obedience to the Prophet that the LORD had chosen caused terrible consequences later. The scripture says the servant of the LORD is worthy of double honor as well as not to touch, meaning do verbal or otherwise harm to His people or prophets. Num 21:7, Num 16:32 ect.
In the wilderness the scripture says, Moses gave them manna, bread from heaven. Jesus said: I am the bread that came down from heaven. He said he which was the bread of life because he was a sacrifice that after it was offered, was eaten by the people and the priest. They received bread in the form of Manna and also were sent quail to strengthen and sustain them for the journey. As Jesus said my words are spirit, and they are life so the apostle also said that the word of God was also meat. Therefore the words sent and spoken by Jesus Christ are bread, meat. They received bread and meat in the wilderness for the journey, just as we must stay in the word for our journey. Notice, they could not store or save the manna for another day, they were instructed to partake of it freshly daily. In this way, it did not spoil. The manna was symbolic of the word received from heaven daily from the LORD. Just as Jesus Christ is the living word send down from heaven. We are to partake of Him daily in prayer, in bible reading, and in attendance to services where His word is preached.

Moses was a man; Jesus was also a man, He was instead of God to us that we could follow everything that He said, knowing that it was truth. He, however was
