From Adam's Side...

by Deborah Garcia
And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, Genesis 2:21& 22

In Genesis, the bible says the God put Adam to sleep and took out of his side, woman. When He took from Adam’s side the rib, he created a being full of an emotional side that was originally there in the original image of God.

From his side he pulled passion and true worship. He pulled a seat of love and expression. In a marriage relationship, the man is put back together, that is why God called them Adam. He pulled the dept of emotion and outward physical demonstration.

Though Moses and the children sang about the Mighty victory that the LORD gave over the army and the pharaoh of Egypt, it was the women led by Miriam, his sister that showed the height of emotion in worship for this great gift. The scripture below shows how they began to play and dance before the LORD in great joy. He is a great God! We see in churches today that women are they first to shout and dance before the LORD.

Exodus 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

Though her husband thought it best to solve their problem by marring another wife, Hannah solved her problem of barrenness by weeping and praying before the LORD until Samuel the prophet was born.

Mary chose the good part her attention span was always at the side of Jesus, listening to every word, as in a love (agape) affair with him, Peter said of himself, Lord I love (phileo) you, meaning, you are my friend, I do not agape-love you.

It was women whose passions to see that the body of Jesus Christ was properly taken care of brought them to the tomb first. Because of the passionate, emotional act, they were the first to know in excitement the Jesus had risen from the dead, and that His body was no longer lain there. It also was Mary Magdalene who saw Him first. The gift pulled from the side of Adam, caused them to believe the unbelievable. We also see that it mentions that women received miracles…

Heb 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again:

From the side of logic, God had to tell man to lift up holy hands and worship. He had to tell man to love their wives.

The LORD’s pick of men included men who maintained that emotional background as a mainstay in their lives. Men such as King David, who wrote, sang and danced to the LORD and loved with a love that surpassed the love of women. He had a heart after the LORD’s own heart.

And Jacob who dwelled in tents and cooked and cleaned as a woman, yet had two wives ably taken care of. This was the man whom the LORD name the whole nation of Israel after, after changing his name in a struggle with an angel. Jacob had a passion for the things of God.

Jeremiah was a weeping prophet who exhibited mood swings when the LORD did not deal with his work in a certain way. He got very angry as a woman would wanting to sever the relationship in an emotional rage,

Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Samuel kept very close communion conversationally with the LORD as a woman would do yet was a very strong man who slew a king, when Saul did not complete his job.

Yet we see that emotion, mainly given to women, who are drawn from the side of Adam, are a major part of churches today. Though many preach against it we see that our God is a God of outward expression and emotion, who loves communication and emotional outburst to Him from His people in the form of love, adoration and worship. Vengeance He saves for himself.

Women with their emotional foundation are used in travail and styles of prayer as no others are used. In God’s plan, He knew that He would have a special place for EMOTION.
